Our Unified Communications Learning Centre in Hilversum is a Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning Solutions.  We offer training using the Official Microsoft Learning Products in the design, implementation and management of Microsoft infrastructure software (Vista, Server 2003, Server 2008, Active Directory, Security, Exchange 2003, Exchange 2007) with a focus on Unified Communications and Collaboration applications (Office Communications Server 2007).

GENERAL INFORMATION

Target audience
The main objective of the Unified Communications Learning Centre is to expand the existing product training courses for the employees, partners and customers of NEC Philips Unified Solutions with training for the related Microsoft products.

Unified communications and collaboration technology

NEC Philips delivers and deploys unified communications and collaboration technology. Microsoft developed a growing amount of technology in that field. Our Unified Communications Learning Centre provides the training to work with these technologies.

Core courses and elective courses

The core Microsoft courses provide training in the server and network technology which lies underneath the unified communications and collaboration technology delivered and deployed by NEC Philips.

The elective Microsoft courses provide training in the specific Microsoft products with unified communications and collaboration technology.

Tailor-made courses

In some cases, we can offer a course tailor-made to your specific needs:

• If you need training courses for older systems, applications, servers or training courses no longer regularly scheduled, you can submit a request for such a training, even though it may no longer be described in the Training Guide
• In the case of a specific target audience, you can make a selection from the course topics described in the various training modules
• If you have several employees who need to be trained, training can also be given at your own location, instead of in Hilversum.

These tailor-made training courses can be arranged provided there are sufficient participants. In all three situations, you can advise us of your training needs, and we will respond to you on how we can meet your requirements.

Entry requirements

Modules are composed of specific and sophisticated topics, which are often cumulative. An overview of the dependencies between the courses is provided by the attached PowerPoint presentation. A minimum entry level is required to make sure that the trainee is able to follow a module successfully. The entry requirements are listed in the description of each training module. As a general requirement, the trainee must be able to understand the language in which the course is given. This is usually English.

Software Assurance Training Vouchers

Software Assurance training vouchers are available to qualified Microsoft software licensing subscription holders. Training vouchers entitle you to receive courses from a Microsoft CPLS for a specific number of training days. The number of days awarded varies by product and by the number of qualifying licenses for which Software Assurance is acquired. NEC Philips accepts SA training vouchers for all the offered Microsoft courses.

Exams

All Microsoft courses we deliver can be concluded with an official Microsoft exam. We encourage our students to take these exams and in that case we provide specific exam training during the course.

Certification program

The individual Microsoft exams are part of specific Microsoft certifications. The two certifications NEC Philips provides training for, are Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), which confirms the preparedness of the candidate to work with a specific Microsoft Technology, mostly consisting of just one exam, and Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), which shows the preparedness of the candidate for a specific IT related job role.

What are the examinations like?

The Microsoft exams are individual computer based exams. The exams consists in most cases of around 60 multiple choice questions. Prometric is the sole Microsoft exam provider.

Does certification expire?

The Microsoft certifications MCTS and MCITP expire when Microsoft ends the support for the related product. In practice a certification has a lifetime of about ten years. Within that period the candidate needs to renew his certification with an exam about a newer version of the product.
