A SAFE BET
Together with Iron Tech, a local system integrator based in Bari (in southern Italy), NEC Philips Italy has been successful in its bid to provide security solutions for the data network being developed for the Italian gaming authority, Amministrazione Autonoma dei Monopoli di Stato (AAMS).
On NEC Philips' suggestion Iron Tech proposed installing two TippingPoint50 solutions to underscore the security level of AAMS two main betting shops. These shops only used a basic firewall, which was unable to intercept and block in real time the most potentially dangerous attacks at application level. These attacks could have led to substantial loss of revenue because a denial of service attack during peak betting hours could have completely blocked the shops' operations.
The customer opted for the TippingPoint solution because it is the only one to combine full traffic inspection with the lowest latencies (less than 100 microseconds). It also comes with a comprehensive and fully automatic update service.
