Altenzentrum Wunstorf e.V. was founded in 1979 as a senior care facility by the then parish pastor Harald Brandes. In 1983, the society opened the Haus Johannes nursing home in Wunstorf, followed by a second, Haus am Bürgerpark in 1993. The third, Wohnpark Rethen, opened in 2005. Approximately 400 beds are available for senior citizens in the three facilities.
Altenzentrum Wunstorf is a member of the community care society of the Lutheran-Protestant Church of Hanover, and currently has 270 members.
Altenzentrum Wunstorf is the supporting organisation for the Wohnpark Rethen senior care facility in Hanover, Germany. Of Rethen’s approximately 100 senior citizen residents, about a third live in assisted living apartments and the rest are patients in the adjoining nursing home. Various, optional care levels are available, including home assistance, meals on wheels, and roundtheclock nursing. However, there’s one thing all residents can count on; the always-on-duty nursing staff is just a call away.
Solution and Benefits
A SOPHO 2000 IPS is what unobtrusively facilitates this rapid help. The system has been integrated into Rethen’s existing communications infrastructure. It also has a comprehensive IP DECT wireless network, which ensures short communication routes, more efficient nursing, and quick emergency reaction times.
The integration of the communication server with Wohnpark Rethen’s emergency call system eliminates the need for a light signalling system. Using DECT for emergency calls is cheap, simple and, above all, non-intrusive.
The emergency call systems in the nursing care rooms and in the assisted living apartments are integrated with the communication solution by a central alarm server. Every emergency call is forwarded to the alarm server and then relayed automatically to the handset of the responsible nurse. The resident’s name and room number are shown in the display.
DECT is much more practical than a paging system, especially for emergency calls. Direct voice contact means many questions can be answered without having to visit the resident. In an extensive compound with two large buildings, this saves the staff a lot of unnecessary walking.
